Boqueria is located in the heart of Soho and conveniently within walking distance from the Spring St subway station. After window shopping, my family and I decided to try Boqueria. The hostess asked for my number and entered it into their system before seating us at a booth table. The ambiance was perfect for our lunch date. I informed our server about my food allergies. Tapas *sharing is caring* Boquerones con Naranja Tortilla Española Mejillones con Azafrán: The steamed mussels were flavorful. Sadly, I ate all the bread and wished for more to dip into the delicious sherry and saffron sauce. Half Pollo Rustido: The Catalan-style roasted chicken was finger-licking goodness. Bookmark this spot to try!
Such a beautiful and clean spot, had lunch here on a summer Friday and it was easy to get a table. Fairly quiet but enough people to feel lively. Then the food... incredible! The eggplant is absolutely delicious DO NOT sleep on it. I'll come back here and take all my friends.
I came here for a late lunch on a weekday, and it was very chill. Not many people and not loud, and my server was very friendly. I ordered the fideuà negro, which is a squid ink noodle paella with some seafood. Paella generally takes a bit of waiting, and the waiter told me about 30 minutes, but I think I waited less than 20, so I was surprised. The paella had 6 shrimps with some mini scallops hidden underneath. It was more seafood than what I actually had expected (given the economy lol), so I was genuinely surprised. And it was cooked really well with the crunchiness on the edges, and the savouriness was fantastic. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly, and the ailoi also blended in nicely. Overall, this was really great for a single serving.
It's raining cats and dogs here in NYC, so I decided to have some comfy Spanish food at Boqueria Soho (there are several location in NY and in DC). There is a Boqueria in DC and I go there often. The location here in New York is packed, but as usual I sat at the bar and No Problem. A glass of Albariño, some mellow music and great tapas... With octopus. Plus, mushroom croquetas, pinchos morunos, pan en tomat, another Albariño. And a small, seafood paella with socarrat. Great service at the bar!! What else can a human want?
Loved this restaurant! We brought some of our favorite clients here for lunch before a happy hour, and they were all very pleased. Our excellent waiter, Jeffrey, recommended the chef's tasting menu ($52 per person), which was perfect for our large group. The dishes kept coming, with generous portions and delicious flavors. Our favorite was, of course, the seafood paella! We also loved the ambiance.
I went for Brunch today. I wanted to try the Brunch Feast. It's usually served for more than one person. My guest couldn't make it and they were able to accommodate it for a party of 1. 2 appetizers and 3 bigger plate items. They sized down some items for one person and I still had food left to take home. I had the meatballs, patatas bravas, huevos horneados (favorite!), French toast and the mushroom flatbread and churros. Everything was pretty good. It wasn't amazing but good. And the value was really good. $29 for all of that!? The service was also really good. The people were really kind. I'd recommend it.
Boqueria in Soho offers an intriguing dining experience with its well-crafted "Boqueria Experience" tasting menu. Although it comes at a premium, the quality and presentation of the food justify the expense. The Croquetas de Setas stood out as a personal favorite--perfectly crispy on the outside with a deliciously creamy mushroom filling inside. The ambiance of Boqueria matches the quality of the food; the interior is trendy, and the music lively, setting a vibrant backdrop for a meal out in the city. Another big plus is the seating arrangement. There's plenty of space, and the tables are well-spaced, which is a relief if you're used to the often cramped conditions of NYC dining spots. While the food is undoubtedly delightful, one slight drawback is that you might find yourself a bit hungry afterwards. The portions are on the smaller side, typical of a tapas-style meal, so it might not satisfy if you're exceptionally hungry. Overall, Boqueria Soho is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality Spanish cuisine in a lively and stylish setting. Just consider grabbing a snack afterwards if you're still peckish!
tl;dr: pretty solid place if you're in the mood for some tapas Food: 9/10 The tapas were pretty decent. We did the Boqueria experience which was a healthy amount of food. The paella was delicious. Definitely try the 36-month aged jamon. It's spectacular and very flavorful. Service: 9/10 Our waiter was pretty chill. Waters were kept filled and he made sure we were taken care of and check in regularly. Ambiance: 9/10 Chill and inviting. It'll work for date night or getting together with a small group of friends.
Everything about our meal here was excellent. The service was top notch and our waiters were very attentive and informative, while maintaining just the right amount of distance while we ate. The food itself was awesome -- each dish expertly executed, presented, and full of flavor. It's clear the menu was poured over time and time again such that every menu item is nearly the same caliber as others. Each tapa has its own distinct flavor. The space itself is elegant. We were lucky to sit in one of the rounded corner booths, which really enhanced the experience. The drinks we ordered were also delicious, the MARGARITA DE ROSAS and SIDRA sangria. I would happily order these again. We ordered the BOQUERIA EXPERIENCE ($65), which was 7 dishes for us, but I've heard the number can vary based on the individual dishes chosen by the server. This was the perfect amount of food for us -- we were stuffed at the end and had a bit of flatbread to bring home. We asked for a few tapas in particular to be incorporated, then our server went to work putting the rest of the set together. In order of deliciousness: GAMBAS AL AJILLO - A clear favorite for me, shrimp in garlic-infused olive oil, served with fresh, warm bread. The roasted garlic slices were aplenty, allowing us to add a few pieces for each bite, topped with shrimp. Highly recommend requesting this in your experience as a must-eat. ESCALIVADA - A close second, this dish was lighter than the prior. I could have eaten so much of this. The smooth chopped eggplant, peppers, and herb mixture laid atop yogurt. The mixture was very rich, while the yogurt toned it down just a bit -- the perfect balance. I really enjoyed this one. JAMON IBERICO DE BELLOTA - This dish is the main draw of getting the Boqueria Experience rather than the Classic Experience. The cured pork was rich and buttery. I appreciated the novelty of eating this fancy pork a bit more than the actual taste of the dish (which was good, but not the best thing in the world). I do wish there were more pork slices to go on the bread. PATATAS BRAVAS - These are no ordinary fried potatoes, I promise. They are perfectly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, seasoned generously, and served with a bold salsa underneath. The salsa is what makes this dish really special -- be sure to coat every piece in the warm sauce. It enhances every bite. CROQUETAS DE SETAS - Another perfectly crisp dish. The mushroom filling mixed with the truffle aioli creates an incredibly rich flavor, best enjoyed in small doses, making the 2 pieces just enough. Test Dish: Short Rib Stuffed Peppers - The stuffed peppers were good, but not my favorite in this lineup. Plenty of juicy rib inside of each pepper, but this dish came up somewhat short compared to the rest (which in all honesty is hard to follow up). The highlight was really the puree underneath which was similar to a very smooth mashed potato (could have been polenta) -- provided a nice diversity in the dish. Test Dish: Mushroom and Sausage Flatbread - Also very good, but similar to the stuffed peppers, came up somewhat short. All of the ingredients worked well together, but it ended up being a little messy as the sausage and mushroom tended to fall off of the flatbread with every bite. Granted, having the leftovers in isolation the next day felt like a luxury. Churros with Chocolate Sauce - A nice ending to a wonderful meal. The chocolate dipping sauce could not have been more delicious. It was similar to a fine cup of hot chocolate at a fancy chocolatier's shop.
